Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

Boca Raton

Will you come to my home for lessons?

I no longer offer home visits as they make it difficult for me to be able to provide ISR’s lifesaving skills to more children each year.  If you are interested in home visits, I may have a colleague that can help but bear in mind, rates start at $450 a week

How many days a week are lessons?

Consistency is KEY when it comes to ISR lessons.  Lessons are conducted 5 days a week (Monday through Friday) at the same time each day.  With our high frequency, short duration lessons we can mold these skills into your child’s muscle memory so they become something they will not forget.  Daily attendance must be adhered to barring illness.

How long are lessons?

You’d be surprised how much energy little ones can use in 10 minutes, which is why this is our maximum lesson time.  They are using new muscles, physically engaging in the water, all while learning at a pace appropriate for them.  I promise you, 10 minutes maximum a day is more than enough to see progress and works with their energy levels so they do not end their lessons feeling yucky and exhausted.

Is this the program where you throw the babies in the water?

Absolutely NOT!  Each kick, breath, reach, and rotation is positively reinforced.  Once a child is FULLY skilled we will integrate simulated fall ins but always with us inches away and never from outside of the pool.

But do they learn to swim?

They sure do!  Any child of walking age will learn to hold their breath, kick and reach to swim to get to the wall, steps, or to an adult they are swimming to.

Will my child cry?

Yes, this is likely.  Just as they cry with anything new before they have an established vocabulary.  They cry during tummy time, in the carseat, during diaper changes, sitting on Santa’s lap…the list goes on.  Our lessons are no different.  I am a new person to your child, teaching them new things, so it is normal to have some emotions at first but as they learn to be independent in their skills most of the time the crying goes away pretty quickly.  You are always welcome to come and watch me teach.

Do you teach on the weekends?

Since our lessons are required to be taught 5 days a week, lessons are not available on the weekends.  However, we do our best to offer lessons to work for parents that work both in and out of the home

Do I have to get into the water with my child?

No, lessons are just for the Instructor and your child.  You will be their cheerleader from the pool deck.  Once we do have some stable skills to share with you, we will invite you into the pool for a lesson or two.

What happens once our session is over?

We offer maintenance lessons to skills your child’s skill fresh as their body grows and changes as well as advancement lessons all the way up to learning strokes.
